This morning, we gathered at the Reynold's High School auditorium for Felix's official Preschool Graduation ceremony.
After this, we walked back home together. We were going to go for a picnic for lunch! (a separate post coming up for that)
I was frankly amazed at how many people showed up for the little show, and glad that Floyd was able to take the day to work from home so he could join us.
They brought the morning class out first onto the stage, and the kids performed some songs for the audience.
If You're Happy and You Know It, Where Oh Where Has My Little Dog Gone, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Bingo, and Little Bunny Foo Foo
Felix spent the entire time on the stage looking like he would burst from boredom.
Sonia, however, got really into it!
"Are we done yet?"
Finally, the songs were finished, and Mrs. Young started giving out little diplomas.
Felix was the first one called up. He got his diploma and was directed down to the first row of the audience where he was supposed to sit for the rest of the performance. They still had the afternoon class to go through, repeating the entire process all over again. Felix sat for the most part, though he did get up and try to leave a few times.
Sonia was thrilled however, that they did all her favorite songs again.
After the ceremony, Mrs.Beam gave a little speech and then everyone got up to go out of the auditorium together.
Felix bolted out before we could get across the crowded room to join him, but I found he'd made a beeline straight for the snacks table outside.
ha! He knew what he wanted, that's for sure.
We mingled a little bit with the other families and the teenagers who'd been helping run the classes while the kids snacked.
This is Grace, one of Felix's classmates.
The high school kids all loved Sonia...oh look - there's Felix being a spaz in the background doing his weirdo "practicing handstands" thing that was driving us crazy earlier in the morning too. He complained that he didn't like one of his classmates very much because he was always saying "Felix, what are you doing?" when he could see perfectly well what he was doing right in front of him. I told Felix that we all often wonder that, simply because it may not be as immediately clear to everyone what exactly Felix is thinking when he's off being a bit of a weirdo.
